At Step Guild, we use a loot system called EPGP, an objective system in which prioritizes giving loot to those who have put in the most effort into the guild relative to the amount of gear they have received.

To help automate the loot giving process, we use an addon called CEPGP. You can download the addon as well as the TBC addon located .

How does EPGP work?

Each player has two persistent scores, Effort Points (EP) and Gear Points (GP), which are used to calculate a Priority Rating (PR). When an item drops, all players who want the item for their main spec (MS) may announce "need" on it. The player with the highest PR will get the item.

Effort Points (EP)

A player earns EP by helping the guild. Examples include: attending raids, running dungeons, donating to the guild bank, and more. (See for more info.) All players start at 0 EP.

Gear Points (GP)

A player gains GP by receiving gear in raids. Each item in the game has a predetermined GP value, which scales relative to the quality of the item. (See for more info.) All players start at 20 GP.

Priority Rating (PR)

A player's priority is calculated by looking of the quotient of their EP and GP.

Priority=EP/GPPriority = EP/GPPriority=EP/GP

Practically, this means that players who put in maximal effort toward the guild and have received little gear will have the highest priority. Conversely, players who put in minimal effort towards the guild and have received plenty of gear will have the lowest priority.

EPGP Decay

To prevent the permanent accumulation of large amounts of EP or GP, both scores decay weekly at a rate of 20%. Reset and decay occurs every Tuesday at 11:59PM ST.

Practically, this means that EP is more valuable in the near-term rather than the long-term, and trying to save your priority for particular items will net you less loot overall.

Alt Characters

If a player has multiple characters in the guild, the EPGP values of the main character will be used for all other characters. In other words, scores are tied to the player, not the character. However, mains have priority on loot.

Main Swapping and EP/GP

Role swapping/Main Swapping will be discouraged unless helping out the raid itself due to lack of classes. The process in which this will be handled is TBD and the officer core will reach out to you to discuss.

Checking Priority

If you have the CEPGP addon installed, you can view EP, GP, and PR scores with the command /cep show
